Writing the Invisible

The default English shapes our life, creating hierarchy, separating us from our surroundings, and telling us what is law, money, time, successful, normal, spiritual. But what does our body already know, and where are ‘official’ words that honour this? In this creative writing workshop, using gentle prompts, quiet writing time and optional sharing, we’ll look into the missing nomenclature of history, experiment with everyday language that frames how we see ourselves and the world, identify heavy or dead words in our life, rename our own experiences, and create short fragments of writing that unite memory, sensation and story.

Please bring: A notepad & pen

Sarah C Gallagher

Sarah C Gallagher is an explorer moving between writing, photography and jewellery. Informed by a work-life spanning luxury jewellery retail to outback shearing sheds, her auto-ethnographic approach traces small, ordinary moments to reveal how systems shape the body, perception and everyday choice. She has self published a novel, Hello I am Lonely, and is currently working on a second ‘totally fictional true story’ and companion projects questioning the narratives that we’re fed as truth. When she’s not writing, Sarah strings old stories into new necklaces and catches natural moments on film.
