Root & Stomp

An Earth Ritual for the Wild Heart. Rooted in the ancient footwork of Sri Lankan Kandyan dance, Root & Stomp is a ritual movement experience like no other.

Traditionally performed by men, Kandyan dance carries centuries of sacred power. In this workshop, women reclaim that power through ancient rhythms –  stomping, releasing, and drawing energy back up from the Earth that feeds us, waters us, and holds us.

Through strong, rhythmic footwork and the heartbeat of the Kandyan drum, we release what no longer serves and come home to ourselves. Vitality. Wildness. Groundedness. A coming home to self.

Stomp it back to the Earth. She knows what to do

Kishani Wijesinghe

Kishani from Hamsagaya Fine Arts is a dedicated teacher & performer of Kandyan dance – a sacred, ritualistic dance form from Sri Lanka. She is also an Ayurvedic therapist. Kishani teaches Kandyan dance in its original essence: as a therapeutic and spiritual practice. Through precise chakra-awakening movement, rhythm, and intentional presence, she guides students to understand how the body can create an energetic vortex – capable of healing oneself and others. Her teachings offer more than technique – they are an invitation to cultivate a deeper connection with Self, Mother Earth, and the Universe
