Contact Improvisation: The Self, The Other, The Us

Tanaya Murakami

Enter into contact improvisation . Let us explore this place. The space within, between, without. What does my internal space look like right now? How do my eyes instigate my experience? My feet? We ask ourselves such questions as we use the lens of the senses to become aware of the earth, the self, and relate to the other in movement. Here, the ‘I’ and the ‘we’ experience contact improvisation as a resource to inquire the internal narrative.

With her heart rooted in movement and connection, Tanaya has found solace in contact improvisation, sharing with the community ‘the embodiment of the essence of movement as a language of the soul’. Tanaya’s journey is steeped in navigating connection: To land, to self, to other, to space, deepening one’s understanding of themselves, and connection to their intrinsic and extrinsic experience through movement inquiry.
